Naomi “DiVine” DeVore is a multi-disciplinary, mixed-media artist based out of the Potentialist Workshop in Reno, NV. Her visual artwork brings together elements of drawing, painting, etching, collage and assemblage by combining a wide variety of materials and found objects. She finds inspiration in the people around her and the ways that humans interact with their environment. As an apprentice to Bret Tyler, DeVore has been learning new techniques for etching and vinyl signwork.
DeVore is a performance artist in addition to being a visual artist. She is a singer/songwriter and plays strings and percussion for a feline-themed folk punk band called Cat Stanley. They released their 9 track album in December 2020. She’s been in many original theatre productions with the Potentialist in the last few years, breathing life into new characters on the stage.
When she’s not creating new works, she’s promoting other artists in her community. DeVore was on the board of directors for Cool Tapes Sound Collective in 2016, where she worked to connect local musicians and artists of all genres with a variety of venues in the area. In 2017, she was the curator for La Terre Verte Gifts and Gallery. Currently, she is a member of the board of directors and VP for the Potentialist Workshop.
While one of DeVore’s main goals is to “create art that is impossible to photograph– in a digital age, you have to be here to experience it,” photographs of her work have been published in several editions of UNR’s Brushfire Literature and Arts Journal. A full-length article on her “Greater NV Garbage Patch” project was published in Insight Magazine.
